| Touchpoint Issue 4 out soon! Although the relationship between design and behaviour is not obvious at first glance, design does in many aspects intentionally become the agent or tool that helps influencing the behaviour of people such as customers, employers and employees. Especially the discipline of Service Design can have an important impact on behavioural structures. In creating emotional impact, support structures and networks, implementing roles and role models, changing the physical environment and introducing relevant rewards it has the facilities to build and rebuild behavioural systems. Services are systems of interactions and actions. The behaviour of people within these interactions and actions is thus a crucial part of Service Design. Be among the first to find a collection of interesting articles on the topic of “Service Design and Behavioural Change” in the fourth issue of Touchpoint, the Service Design journal, which will be published end of April 2010. | Betacup Design Competition
58 billion paper coffee cups are thrown away unrecycled each year. The amount of waste resulting from consumer packaging every year is mind-boggling. So reducing the number of paper coffee cups consumed is the initial attempt for this competition. The betacup differs from most contest formats, because it is open. The aim is that with this feedback process ideas will become even better, so you are encouraged to submit ideas early and benefit from the feedback. The Betacup team invites you to submit ideas but also to comment and rate others’ ideas, and engage in discussions with other betacup community members and contest jurors. This international contest starts on April 1, 2010 and ends on June 15. Find more information and the registration page here.
